Fall Weddings

Fall, or Autumn, is a beautiful time of year to have your wedding. Here are some tips for a fairytale fall wedding:

Wedding Location:
How about a storybook fall setting such as an inn, an older churchs, or an old mill or a barn. A fall wedding can be casual yet elegant set in a beautiful old barn. You might also look at an apple orchard, a vineyard, or any place that will have a view of fall foliage. Look for a venue with lots of rich dark wood and warmth such as a gentleman’s club or university club. A fireplace is an extra special touch.

Wedding Flowers:
Mums, roses, daisies, fall leaves, tallow berries and yarrow can be found at reasonable prices at this time of year. A spray of wheat or a mum accented with a pheasant feather makes an elegant boutonnière. Consider hollowing out pumpkins for your centerpiece containers – if you don’t have the time, many craft and home stores now sell realistic fake pumpkins.

Wedding Menu:
The most traditional fall dinner is a roasted turkey. Other menus choices could include dishes frrom roasted quail to standing rib roast. Choose a hearty meat that will pair well with heavier side dishes such as squash and mashed potatoes. A mushroom ragout evokes the season and provides a nice entrée for your vegetarian guests. You might start the meal with a hearty soup served in a hollowed out pumpkin, accompanied by whole grain rolls.

Serve warm apple cider in glass mugs with a cinnamon stick stirrer, and offer an alternative to wedding cake with a baked apple dessert.

Selecting Wine and Champagne for your Wedding

If you are wondering which champagnes and wines to serve at your wedding, here are the basics that you'll need to know to get the perfect mix at your big day.

You may already have a favorite Champagne or wine that you enjoy. Perhaps something that the two of you drank on a special date, or a Champagne that your parents drank at their wedding. If you don't, your caterer will surely have recommendations for you and will assist you in figuring out how much wine you'll need for the amount of people you're having.

At most parties, approximately 30-50% will drink white wine (mostly Chardonnay), 30-50% will drink red wine (mostly cabernet), and about 10 to 20% will drink white zinfandel. You'll want to consider your crowd: more women usually mean more white wine drinkers, more men mean more red wine.

Another consideration is what entree you are serving. Sauvignon Blanc goes with a wide variety of seafood entrees, as well as poultry and cheeses, and is the best option for pasta with a cream sauce. Chardonnay is a widely popular white that works well with chicken, pork and many seafood dishes.

For red wines, Merlot and Cabernet are the most popular options and both suit a menu that includes beef or pastas with red sauces. Another crowd pleaser is Beaujolais, a light fruity red.

Finally, you'll want to have a Champagne or sparkling wine for toasting! (sparkling wine is the same thing as champagne, except that its not from grapes grown in the Champagne region of France). This will be the most expensive part of your wine budget, thus only serve it for the toasting. You should plan for 2 glasses of Champagne per guest, unless your wedding will be very long, or you know that there will be many formal toasts.

Tips for saving money on your Wedding Flowers

Here are some ideas to save you money when planning for your Wedding Flowers:

** Use in season and readily available flowers. Be honest with your florist about your budget, and have them recommend the most inexpensive flowers.

** Schedule your wedding during the Christmas season or immediately after Easter when a church will already be decorated.

** Carnations are one of the cheapest flowers out there. When they are used in abundance so that the blooms are packed together, they can be quite striking. Consider a low square table centerpiece of 20 carnation blooms with all of their stems and greenery removed.

** Hold your wedding in a venue such as a park or garden that is already lush and beautiful.

** Consider arranging your own flowers such as bouquets of simple roses tied with a ribbon. Four or five pillar candles on top of rose petals makes an easy and cheap centerpiece. You can also easily create a centerpiece using wide shallow bowls filled with water and several floating gerber daisy blooms. If making the boutonnieres and corsages seems to complex, then n ot too worry, as these are generally inexpensive to order from a florist.

** Talk to your venues and see if any other brides have booked for the same day. If the two of you can coordinate flowers and split the cost, you’ll save a lot of money.

Wedding Day Beauty Tips

Here are some tips to help keep you looking radiant and beautiful on your special day:

Use a long-lasting lipstick
Apply the color once at the beginning of the day, and remoisturize a couple of times to keep lips luscious and picture-perfect.

Use waterproof eye makeup
Most brides cry at their weddings, so to prevent those running mascara eyes, invest in waterproof mascara and eye products.

Have backups on hand
Stake out the bathrooms or changing facility at the venue. Stash an emergency kit including power to beat down shiny noses, clear nail polish to repair stocking runs, a hairbrush, hairspray, lipstick, and a sewing kit, along with anything else you think you or your bridesmaids might need.

Relax!
A relaxed bride is a beautiful bride. A wedding succeeds as long as you end up married at the end of the day - everything else is extra!

Wedding Attendant Tips

Here are some tips and ideas for you to consider for your wedding attendants and wedding party:

Stepchildren
Involve children from previous marriages to let them know how important they are to the new family structure. Include them as junior bridesmaids, flower girls, or ushers. Invite the children to participate in the unity candle lighting, the readings in the church or present them with their own family ring. Make a special toast to them during the speeches. Perhaps forego throwing your bouquet and instead present it to your new daughter to be. Maybe present them with rings too, to symbolize your commitment to them.

Uneven Attendant Numbers
Don't worry if you don´t have the same number of bridesmaids as groomsmen. There´s no rule dictating that the numbers be even. So mix it up and have fun with it!

One Color, Many Styles of Dress
If each of your bridesmaids is shaped differently and each would look good in a different style, you may want to consider choosing the color, designer, and fabric of the gown and then letting each maid choose her own style. This will ensure that each girl looks her best, which will reflect in their happiness on the day and your wedding photographs!

Dresses for the Little Ones
Be sure that your flower girl´s dress fits in with the overall theme or style of your wedding. If your dress has a tulle skirt, the flower girl´s dress could; if you´re carrying roses in your bouquet, try finding a little dress with silk rose accents.

Tori Spelling remarries

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Tori Spelling has reportedly married her fiancé, actor Dean McDermott.

The pair said their vows Sunday on a private tropical island in Fiji according to People magazine. The publication said they were wed barefoot and wearing white in a modest, nondenominational ceremony.

Spelling met McDermott last summer in Ottawa while the pair were filming a TV movie, Mind Over Murder. Both were married to other people at the time - Spelling to actor-writer Charlie Shanian, and McDermott to Canadian TV personality Mary Jo Eustace.

The couple got engaged in December a few months after Shanian filed for divorce from Spelling.

The couple had only been wed for 15 months – they were betrothed in a lavish ceremony at the Beverly Hills home of the actress’s TV producer father Aaron Spelling.

McDermott, 39, also filed for divorce before popping the question to the 32-year-old star of Scary Movie 2 and Troop Beverly Hills.
